Maxi is on the verge of strangling Yvonne to death when Shaz lashes out with a well-timed karate kick that sends Maxi flying. Quick as a flash, Yvonne turns the tables and starts to strangle Maxi, luckily, Shaz manages to convince her that Maxi isn’t worth doing life for and she drops the belt and storms off. Denny is furious when she hears how Maxi set Shaz up and goes to confront her. As Al looks on in amazement, Maxi folds without a fight and promises to apologise to Yvonne on Shaz’s behalf. The following morning, Maxi tells Yvonne and the whole wing that the Peckham Boot Gang are finished.
Crystal goes into labour in the dorm and Karen is on hand to deliver the baby when it becomes clear that there isn’t enough time to move her to a hospital. In a matter of minutes, Crystal becomes the proud mother of a baby girl. Once Crystal is safely on the MBU, Karen arranges for Josh to pay an unofficial visit. As he cuddles his daughter, Crystal talks about how she felt Zandra’s spirit protecting her as she gave birth. She tells Josh that she wants them to name their baby daughter Zandra and after a moment’s hesitation, he agrees.
Buki has been deeply affected by Zandra’s birth and begs Mark to be allowed to visit Crystal on the MBU. She also announces her ambition to be a nursery nurse after her release. Mark is sceptical, but when Buki hands over her stash of drugs he starts to take her seriously. After Fenner turns Buki’s request down flat, Mark takes the issue upstairs to Neil. As soon as he hears about Fenner’s refusal, Neil gives his permission for Buki to work as a helper on the MBU.
Roisin gets in contact with Aidan’s mother and finds out that he was forced to rent out the family home because he could no longer afford to pay the bills. She refuses to tell Roisin where Aidan and the children are staying. Concerned, Cassie telephones Aidan’s mother and tells her that there’s a very real danger that Roisin may commit suicide if she doesn’t hear from Aidan soon. Later, Roisin’s prayers are answered when Aidan comes to visit. He tells her that once she is released, he wants them and the children to move back to Ireland.
Neil calls all of G-Wing’s officers into his office for a discussion about Fenner’s performance as wing governor. Although Di and the others seem eager to rubbish Fenner, Karen thinks that it is unfair to go behind Fenner’s back and refuses to participate. Later, she goes to Fenner and reveals her concerns about the way Neil is treating him – if he can’t take Neil to a tribunal, maybe he should think about resigning. Fenner assumes that Karen is after his job and tells her to mind her own business.
On the MBU, Buki bonds with a baby boy called Baxter whose mother, Spike, doesn’t seem to be bothered with him. Over time, Buki becomes besotted with the little boy and gives up her spends to buy him toys and new clothes. Buki and Crystal become convinced that Spike is a junkie and that if she doesn’t get her act together soon, the authorities with pull Baxter into care. However, when they confront Spike, they are horrified to learn that both she and baby Baxter have AIDS.
Roisin thanks Cassie for contacting Aidan’s mother, but when she tries to show her gratitude in a physical manner, Cassie pulls away. Cassie is now convinced that Roisin will go back to Aidan when she’s released because she’s scared about losing the children. Roisin tries desperately to convince Cassie otherwise but it’s too late, Cassie is sure now that they have no future together. It does seem however that Cassie has other fish to fry – her canteen scam is proving to be a resounding success and she’s now spending almost all of her time with Yvonne.
Neil announces that he’s decided to demote Fenner. When Karen protests, Neil points out that it was she who raised the allegation of Fenner’s sexual assault on Helen Stewart, the one thing that convinced him to bust Fenner back down into uniform. Hearing about Karen’s betrayal is the last straw and Fenner finally cracks. Officers and inmates alike look on in amazement as he storms off the wing.
Mark turns up on the MBU to escort Buki only to find that she and baby Baxter have gone missing. A search is conducted and Mark eventually finds Buki cowering in a toilet cubicle with baby Baxter in her arms. Mark tries to talk Buki into handing Baxter over, telling her that Spike is frantic. He is stunned when Buki reveals that she knows exactly what Spike is going through – she gave birth to a baby boy in a public toilet in Kings Cross when she was thirteen. The baby was stillborn and she left him there.
A concerned Karen does some detective work and discovers that Fenner is staying in a grotty bed-sit. She goes to visit him and ends up comforting him over a bottle of scotch. Before she realises what is happening, she and Fenner are lying on the bed kissing. Karen tries to put a stop to it when it looks like things are going too far but Fenner refuses to take no for an answer.
Maxi – “I’m saying you win. I’m saying it out loud to all of you yeah? The Peckham Boot Gang is history.”

Fenner – “Here’s my back, stick the knife in now why don’t you?”
Yvonne – “Jesus, you must me desperate.
Di – “I beg your pardon?”
Yvonne – “Shagging a gay man?”
Di – “Who told you that? Ah, it was Mr Fenner wasn’t it? Honestly! That’s the thanks Neil gets for putting him up when he was homeless.”
Yvonne – “Share a bed with him n’all did he?”
Di – “Mr Grayling is no gay man…trust me.”
Yvonne – “Well, well, well. Fenner and the Gov eh? Match made in heaven.”
Buki – “I was talking shit miss.”
Di – “I should think so too after Mr Grayling bent over backwards to get you on here.”

Fenner – “Sod the lot of you, I’m walking!”
