After a night spent sleeping rough in his office, Fenner is desperate to make it up with Di. She knows enough about him to drop him well and truly in the shit and, wary of this, Fenner blames his recent behaviour, and his impotence, on stress caused by the fact that he was raped whilst in prison. Di, being Di, crumples immediately and, now all concern, makes him promise that he’ll go and speak to someone about it. Fenner agrees to ask Dr Nicholson for a referral, but what Di doesn’t know is that instead, he’s planning on making sure that he can’t get her pregnant, and that the referral he asks for is to someone who can perform a vasectomy!
Phyl and Bev are working on a new scam. To her great distaste, Bev has drawn the short straw and has to flutter her eyelashes and show a great deal of cleavage to Frank, the baker’s delivery man, in exchange for free cream cakes. While Bev is doing her job, Phyl gets to work on one of the red bands who work in the PO’s club. Although she’s reluctant at first, her eyes light up when Phyl shows her a box of cream doughnuts and before long, she’s sneaking them bottles of gin in exchange for as many cakes as Bev can sweet-talk out of a besotted Frank.
Janine is petrified at the prospect of seeing Natalie again so she feigns sickness in order to remain in the dorm during breakfast. Livid when she hears about Natalie’s eyeball trick, Arun is all for reporting her to Neil. Although Darlene manages to put the fear of God into Arun, this exchange has given Janine an idea and before long, she’s stealing Arun’s precious crucifix and a plastic bag containing what looks like pills and giving them to Natalie as a sweetener before telling her all about Arun’s plans to grass on her.
Natalie is flying high at the moment, she’s ruling the roost on G-Wing and it seems that everyone is in her debt. She has even scored a cushy job working in the library which serves as the perfect place to make sure that Fenner’s needs are attended to. The library is also the perfect place to settle scores and before long, naïve Arun is walking into a violent trap set by Janine and Natalie who beat her to a pulp with the aid of bars of soap stuffed into a sock.
Fenner has got his revenge on the Julies for Neil’s decision to allow them to open a beauty salon. Instead of a dedicated room, they’re going to have to put up with having their cell divided up and them and all of their equipment crammed into it. Julie S is quickly discouraged, but when she sees Fenner’s smug face she is filled with a new sense of purpose – they’ll make this salon a success just to spite him.
Di notices that there’s something very wrong with Arun and follows her to her cell. She is shocked and angry when she sees Arun’s bruises, but there’s nothing she can do about it if the inmate refuses to report her. Di pleads with Arun to let her speak to Fenner but Arun is adamant, and anyway, everyone knows that Natalie is Fenner’s ‘favourite’. Picking up on the vibes, Natalie decides to put the wind up Di and arranges for Janine and Darlene to loudly gossip about a smutty letter that she has received from Fenner. Di can’t help but overhear the conversation and flies straight up to G3 in search of the letter, but Natalie manages to flush it down the toilet before she can grab it. Di goes completely mental and slaps Natalie in front of the whole wing and an extremely shocked Colin.
Fenner has no choice to inform Di that he’s suspending her for hitting an inmate and that she’s just blown any chance she might have had of making Principal Officer. Di makes it very clear to Fenner that he’ll make sure that she gets the promotion; after all, she’s got a lot more on him than he’s got on her. Now contrite, Fenner tells Di that he has no choice but to suspend her – he can’t have Area accusing him of nepotism. Things get even worse for Fenner when he goes to confront Natalie, she’s full of plans to phone her solicitor and arrange to press charges against Di. Realising that Natalie’s got him over a barrel, Fenner offers her a deal – he’ll arrange for her to have a weekend visit in exchange for her dropping her accusations against Di. Pretending to call her solicitor for Fenner’s benefit, Natalie begins to make arrangements for her escape with one of her cronies.
Seeing Fenner giving Natalie the eyeball while she queues for the phone, Arun glams herself up and goes to speak with him. Under the guise of telling him that she’s changed her mind about reporting Natalie, she makes it very obvious to him that she’s interested. Fenner is completely taken in and, before he knows what’s happening, he’s assuring her that she’ll have no more problems with Natalie.
Dr Nicholson is still fawning over Hollamby, full of utter devotion after a night of ‘passion’. He thinks that all his dreams have come true when Hollamby takes him to see her inherited mansion. It’s not long before he brings in Hugo, his antiques valuing friend to make sure that ‘they’ will get the best deal for Hollamby on all of the ‘clutter’ she’s desperate to get rid of. Probably a good deal richer, Nicholson makes a beeline for the nearest pawn shop and buys the cheapest engagement ring that he can find. Stunned and star-struck, Hollamby accepts immediately.
Julie S – “We will make a go of it mate.”
Julie J – “Mean it?”
Julie S – “Yeah. Bleedin’ cancer might come back and beat me, but I ain’t gonna let Fenner.”
Natalie – “Oi! They better sack that bitch for what she did to me.”
Colin – “She didn’t do that much damage, your mouth’s still working.”
